Terms & Conditions

These terms explain how our mail-in service works, what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you. We have written them in plain English so they are easy to follow. They apply to everyone who sends us items to value and sell.

In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean our cash-for-gold service, and “you” means the customer using it. By requesting a pack and sending us your items, you agree to these terms.

1. The instant estimate is a guide, not an offer

Any figure you see before we receive your items — on our website, in your instant estimate, or from our team — is a non-binding guide based on the details you give us. It is not an offer to buy and does not commit either of us to anything. It simply helps you decide whether to send your items in.

Estimates depend on the carat, weight and condition you describe. If the actual items differ from that description, the figure will change accordingly.

This is a guide price — not an offer

This is an instant guide price, not an offer. It's based on the carat and weight you entered. Your final, no-obligation offer is confirmed only after we professionally test the purity and weigh your items. If you're happy, we pay the same day by bank transfer. If not, we return everything to you free and fully insured.

2. How we make an offer

We make a firm offer only after your items reach us and are professionally tested and weighed. Testing confirms the precious-metal content, and weighing gives the exact mass. We then calculate your offer from the live market price — you can see how we work this out on our live prices page.

Because the gold market moves throughout the day, each offer is valid for the same business day it is made. If you do not accept it that day, we will simply re-test and re-quote at the next available market price — there is no penalty for waiting, and you remain free to ask for your items back.

3. Free, fully insured postage both ways

Sending your items to us is free. We provide fully insured inbound postage or a tracked courier collection, so your parcel is covered in transit at no cost to you.

If you decide not to sell, returns are free and fully insured too. We send your items back to you, tracked and covered, at our expense.

4. No testing fees and no return fees

We never charge for testing, weighing, valuing or returning your items. There are no admin fees, handling fees or hidden deductions. If you choose not to accept an offer, it costs you nothing.

5. Ownership and your right to sell

By sending us your items, you confirm (warrant) that you own them outright, or are otherwise legally entitled to sell them, and that they are free from any loan, charge or claim by anyone else. Please do not send items that are not yours to sell.

6. Identity checks for higher-value items

To meet our anti-money-laundering (AML) obligations, we may need to verify your identity before paying for higher-value items. If so, we will ask for straightforward documents such as photo ID and proof of address. We only collect what we need, and we handle it in line with our privacy policy. Where a check is required, payment is made once it is complete.

7. Payment and when ownership passes

When you accept an offer, we pay you by Faster Payments bank transfer to your nominated UK account, on the same business day. Most transfers arrive within minutes, though your bank's own processing times apply.

Ownership (title) in your items passes to us only when payment is made. Until you accept an offer and we pay, the items remain yours and you can ask for them back at any time.

8. Our responsibility to you

We take great care with your items and insure them in transit and while they are with us. If something goes wrong, we will put it right.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any rights you have under UK consumer law, or our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Subject to that, our responsibility for any loss connected with your items is covered by the insurance in place while they are in our care or in transit through our arranged postage.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
